Above is a photo of the Novus Ordo Mass, the one practiced in most Catholic Parishes since Vatican II. It is the Mass I grew up knowing.
However, my coming across Taylor Marshall in the last year or two along with the current Pope’s crusade against tradition, I became curious about the Traditional Latin Mass.
So, I went to one about a year and a half ago. The closest one I could find was about a 35 minute drive.
I did not have a clue what was going on. I expected the Mass to follow the same basic rhythm as the Novus Ordo, just with the priest facing the Alter and obviously a different language.
I expected it to be like a Spanish Mass with the priest’s back to the congregation. I was clueless. I was completely out of sink with when to stand, kneel, sit, etc. I could tell that it was more holy and reverent though.
However, being spoiled enough to have about a dozen Catholic Churches to attend within a 10-mile radius, I basically decided to stick with the Novus Ordo constantly in search of the most orthodox message I could find.
One day, I happened to attend Mass at a quaint little chapel. To my surprise, the Mass was in Latin. This time I knew a bit more what to expect. Again, I could tell the Mass was holier.
There was a Franciscan Friar saying Mass. There was a heavy cascade of incense. There were nuns singing what sounded like Gregorian Chant rather than a choir with acoustic guitars singing songs you can hear in a Protestant service.
I still did not know what was being said outside the Gospel and the homily. However, I knew it was where I belong.
For the last year, I have been going to this Mass more often than not. I pick up what I can. Other than that, I have been just praying my Rosary following the rest of the small-but-growing congregation as they sit, stand and kneel.
I would receive Communion, say my prayers, give my tithe and leave. A sweet old lady who heard that I did not know the prayers being said brought me a brand-new copy of The New Marian Missal recently; she refused to accept payment for it.
She happens to be a black woman which destroys the false FBI narrative that the Traditional Latin Mass attracts white supremacists. Anyway, I was able to follow along with my Missal. The prayers are so much more powerful and hard-hitting than those said at the Novus Ordo.
The prayer that struck me most was from 1 Corinthians 11:26-27:
As often as you shall eat this Bread and drink the Chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord until He come: therefore whoever shall eat this Bread or drink the Chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the Body and Blood of the Lord. Alleluia.
Now think about that a minute. Based on that prayer straight out of the New Testament, if we receive the Eucharist in a state of mortal sin, not only are we committing sacrilege, but we are also putting the Blood of Jesus’ Crucifixion on our hands. We are basically crucifying Him again.
Just to show how we as a Church need to get back to tradition, you may notice that if or when you go to a Novus Ordo parish that has a heavy Hispanic or Eastern European congregation, the message tends to be more traditional and the priests tend to be more reverent.
You will also notice that many people do not take Communion. A larger percentage receive on the tongue and kneel before the Sacrament. If you attend Confession at these parishes and you are not early, you will be waiting a while.
However, if you go to your average mostly white parish, just about everyone gets up for Communion. If you attend Confession at the majority of these parishes, there are usually less than 10 people there.
My theory is that the people in those countries have been taught more traditionally that the Eucharist is Sacred, and you must not receive it unworthily. I am not looking to count anyone’s sins, but I have attended family weddings and funerals and seen numerous people that I know do not regularly attend Mass lining up for Communion.
That means me too. There have been plenty of times in the evolution of my faith that I have received the Sacrament in a state of mortal sin; I am determined to never let that happen again.
This is the product of Vatican II watering the message down to Protestant-Plus in order to not alienate anyone. Meanwhile attendance is down and many who do attend go through the motions while tripping over Junior’s coloring books.
Now, back to the Traditional Latin Mass. Above is a photo of the consecration of the Eucharist in traditional form. Look how much more reverent. Look at the difference in the vestments.
Some may be put off by the priest not facing the congregation. That is our upbringing teaching us that the Mass is about us and what we get out of it.
That is irrelevant. The Mass is about Jesus. He is the Star of the Show, not us. We are there to love, thank, honor and serve Him, not ourselves. We will receive our rewards for doing so.
By no means am I saying that Catholics who attend the Traditional Latin Mass are better than those who attend the Novus Ordo. There are plenty better Catholics than me in the parish Mass.
I also know that many do not have a Traditional Latin Mass nearby, in which case you MUST attend the Novus Ordo. That is not an excuse to not attend.
However, I believe your faith will grow stronger and more militant at the Latin Mass. Militance is what we need as we take on the satanic culture.
Recently, I went to attend the Traditional Latin Mass and the time was changed without my knowledge so I zipped to a local Novus Ordo Mass.
Many of you who read this site have become very well-informed politically by taking in independent content. Imagine watching Infowars or Steve Bannon’s War Room for a few months.
You are getting next month’s news today. You are ahead of the curve. You are getting practical political and cultural advice on how to survive global tyranny rather than just hearing about double standards.
Then, you are forced one day to watch Fox and Friends instead. You are sitting there hearing about the free market, tax cuts, highlights of the hair sniffer falling, pandering to homosexuals so long as they just keep away from our children and women’s sports, etc.
You overall agree with the message, but it feels a little empty. It doesn’t quite move the needle for what’s needed today.
In a nutshell, it’s just not the same. Talk soon.
